Golden Child. I wrote this song about two weeks before Jacob Blake was shot senselessly. I hope I never feel the need to write another song like this. The residual effects of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor’s murders have already weighed heavily on me and then this happened. I’m beyond fed up. Black people everywhere are fed up because the system continues to fail us. We keep dying and nothing happens. In what world does that make sense? I don’t understand the shock or confusion that comes from people bringing up the idea of defunding the police when they continue to not protect and serve. This song will only be on Bandcamp for right now and all the proceeds will be split between the GofundMe for Jacob Blake and bail funds for protestors in Kenosha for the foreseeable future. Give what you can. I’m praying continuously for Jacob Blake and his family, that their trauma and suffering are not in vain.
